THE VALLEY CARVER'S CARVINGS

Pine, butternut and basswood are the raw materials of the Valley Carver’s wood carving sculptures. Historic lumbering and agricultural life in the Ottawa Valley are two of the main subjects from which Delbert Juby draws inspiration. Valley people at work and play and Valley animals – both domestic and wild, figure significantly in ‘Dub’s’ wood sculptures. His work also features relief sulptures, plaques and signs for home, cottage and business. From miniature to life-size, the Valley Carver’s woodcarvings fall into the following broad categories:
